Witnessing the Faith
I witness our faith through pushing students to challenge themselves and watching them develop physically, mentally, socially and spiritually through activity and teamwork.
All aspects of Physical Education requires students to use each other and lift each other up. Through sports and physical activity students realize their strength's and weaknesses, and help each other succeed based on those strengths and weaknesses. Physical Education is a safe for kids to demonstrate positive virtues, PE creates an atmosphere where it is natural to be inclusive, honest, humble, and a team player. Physical Education creates opportunities for students to step up and better themselves everyday, in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. PE gives students an opportunity to develop leadership skills and work with one another, in these moments I witness our faith the most. Physical Education naturally has the same objective of our faith, God wants us to be the best version of ourselves.

Spontaneous Student Led Prayer Circle
I have a small Phys. Ed. class for two periods back to back, in between classes my group was in the gym waiting for the other classes to change. We all sat down in our area of the gym in a circle. We were talking as a group, when one student grabbed the hands of the students beside her. Everyone then started to pick up their neighbours hands one by one without discussion, until each student held each other's hands naturally, without any coaxing. One student suggested that it was as if we were doing a prayer circle. Instead of starting a formal prayer, I suggested that we go around the circle and say one thing that we are thankful for. As a group, one by one, we went around the circle and each student said something that they were thankful for, without hesitation. This was an amazing impromptu experience that I had with my class. For grade 9 students to be so open and willing to participate in this student guided activity was amazing for me to be a part of. These types of experiences brought all of us closer together, and closer to God in a completely natural way.

Social Wellness
As a group 9A and myself took some time to discuss our social wellness over hot chocolate in the canteen. Seeing this group of students in a pressure free environment where they were encouraged to be open, share their thoughts, and feelings, was a very unique experience. I see God most through relationships and experiences like this one reminds me of that. Times like this one and allow me to point out the connection to each other as a connection to God as well. We still talk about this day as a class!

Bowling with 9A
As a group we had the opportunity to walk to Holiday Bowl one afternoon! It seems like more meaningful discussion and role modelling happens during classes like this one than in a traditional class room setting.
